Impact factors for all journals in the Web of Science Core Collection

Published on August 11, 2022

You may have recently read the announcement from Clarivate (July 26, 2022) announcing that all journals in the Web of Science Core Collection will receive an Impact Factor in the June 2023 release of the Journal Citation Reports. This means that journals from the multidisciplinary Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) will be awarded an Impact Factor for the first time.

We welcome this news, which we understand will result in positive changes for a number of Hindawi journals. This step forward will provide greater alignment among many journals by reducing barriers and providing the opportunity for journals to be assessed on their own merit.

As a signatory of The Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), and a proud member COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), we encourage thorough assessment of scope, content, and a journal's editorial processes, alongside a range of journal- and article-level metrics (such as usage and citations) when evaluating a journal.
